GET CLOSE TO A RED PANDA!! - A fantastic weekend of activities PLUS A CHANCE TO MEET A RED PANDA!

Calling all Red Panda Rangers

Come and join in the fun on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August at Paradise Park in Hayle, where you can win a chance to feed a Red Panda, meet and watch wildlife artist Jon Tremaine drawing the Red Pandas, tackle the 'Ranger Trail', get creative by mask making plus join in fun workshops – as well as a full timetable of other wildlife feeding times and displays.

Keeper Donna Chidgey said "This event proved so popular last year that we decided to make it a full weekend this August.  We have two Red Pandas, Pandora is 14 years old and Lang Za who is just 5 years old. We do training for several reasons. It brings them down from the trees so the public get a chance to see them but more importantly for husbandry. This means they can do things like ‘high five’ a target so when the vet comes to check claws and feet etc. the pandas trust me and will come down to be examined."

EVENTS OVER THE WEEKEND
  • WIN AN AMAZING RARE OPPORTUNITY TO FEED OUR RED PANDAS
On both days staff will be running raffles for two people (one at 1:30 and one at 4:30 – the draws take place 30mins before each event) to be able to join keeper Donna Chidgey to feed and help train Lang Za and Pandora the Red Pandas.
  • Meet and watch wildlife artist Jon Tremaine - Wildlife artist Jon Tremaine will be at Paradise Park on Saturday afternoon and during the day on Sunday where visitors can meet him and watch him drawing the pandas plus see more of his work on display and available for purchase.

Wildlife Artist Jon Tremaine has donated a beautiful drawing to help raise much needed funds for the Red Panda Project www.redpandanetwork.org. Prints of the drawing are for sale in the gift shop. Jon said “As a regular visitor at Paradise Park I was pleased to be asked by Donna the Red Panda keeper to create an original pen and ink drawing of Lang Za to raise funds for Red Panda conservation. I had a wonderful afternoon getting to know and photographing Lang Za, it was a great opportunity for me to get close to such a wonderful species and help with such an important cause”

It promises to be a fun filled weekend, plus there will be all the daily events including penguin photocall, help feed the Lorikeets, the Eagles of Paradise display, Carrot Time on the Fun Farm and much more.
